Queens, Bride & Princess
15 September om 11:00 - 16:00
On Sunday this year in the Palace garden next to ‘ the 8 Queens from 200 years of Kingdom ‘ also ‘ the Bride and the princess from the Golden Age ‘ are present. From Queen Wilhelmina of Prussia to Queen Máxima. “The Bride and the princess” are Princess Amalia of Solms and her sister Louise who married in 1638 with Lord Johan Wolfert van Brederode. Her marriage was no less than a 10-day wedding celebration in The Hague with a three-day jousting on the square. Next to the Princess/Prince of the day-election we have a Knight of the day-election this year.
The Queens bend themselves over the princesses/princes. It was not for nothing that the palace garden used to be called ‘ Princessetuin’ (Garden of the Princesses). Who is the most beautiful Princess/Prince and can also really behave like a princess?
‘The bride and the princess’ are bending over ‘the Knight of the day-election’. Parents become ‘horses’ and children ‘sturdy knights’ who go ring.
