On 11 and 12 August, the Hollands Historisch Festijn will bring Dutch history to life on and around the Binnenhof in The Hague. Did you know that there is a castle in the Binnenhof? It is the Count’s castle and Floris V’s Ridderzaal. The Binnenhof has been the seat of power since the 13thcentury, from the Counts of Holland, the Stadhouders and the Monarchy to the present Government.
The nobility used to hold power. Now, power is in the hands of the people and everyone counts! Join the celebrations during the Prinsjesfestival from 13 to 18 September (Prinsjesdag is on 18 September).
The Binnenhof is one of the oldest seats of government that is still in use in the world! To ensure that it can continue serving this purpose into the future, the Binnenhof will undergo major renovations from 2020 to 2025. Watch this film by the Rijksvastgoedbedrijf (Central Government Real Estate Agency).
